Is a snap on denture the best option for you?

Snap on denture is a term used to describe a denture that is retained by implants. Ordinary dentures are held in place by suction or a combination of suction with some form of adhesive.

This is very uncomfortable for many people, it limits their chewing ability and the denture is often displaced during function, which can lead to some really embarrassing situations, not to mention difficulty and chewing and speaking. After an appropriate healing period ( 4 to 5 months) during which the patient’s bone bonds with the implant, an attachment  called a Locator is placed into the top of the implant and extends through the gum tissue into the mouth about an eighth of an inch.

The locator is designed so that it snaps into a corresponding insert in the patient’s denture. The denture is held firmly in place during function, enabling the patient to enjoy foods that they haven’t been able to eat for years, to speak comfortably and confidently and smile without worry.
